On November 18th and December 3rd, 2017, I found myself at the forefront of a poignant moment, leading a meditation outside the grandeur of San Francisco City Hall. This gathering was not just any assembly; it was a silent protest orchestrated by the visionary Brooke Montgomery Waterhouse. Our mission was simple yet profound:–– to cultivate a vision of unity amidst the tumultuous currents sweeping our nation.
As I sat before 150 souls, I felt the weight of responsibility, mingled with a surge of anticipation. Guiding us through the tranquil depths of meditation, I offered words of solace and direction, while a local female politician lent her voice to the cause. The atmosphere whispered of sacred creativity. Local artists adorned the space with flyers they had created, Brooke’s brother encircled the crowd with palo Santo, and the tender melody of Zander's song permeated the air.
Gongs and crystal bowls, wielded by dedicated musicians, stirred the essence of our collective being. Their harmonies served as a balm for weary hearts, offering solace during a time of uncertainty.
There was a call to action. A table laden with resources beckoned attendees to engage in community service and stand against the tide of hate crimes plaguing our society. It was a reminder that even in silence, there exists a potent energy for change, a need to take action.
For me, this gathering was a revelation—an affirmation that within chaos, there is room for peace; amidst discord, there is space for unity. As we gathered around the elemental altar I created for our circle, I felt a palpable sense of connection, a shared intention to transcend the divisions that threaten to tear us apart.
In those moments of silence, we became architects of a new narrative—a narrative rooted in love, compassion, and community healing. And though our time together was fleeting, its impact reverberated far beyond the confines of City Hall.
I felt deeply honored to contribute to this collective rising.
